Marsh & Mast Management was founded by Joe Jenkins, a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran whose life has been defined by the rhythm of the tide. Joe’s story doesn't start with a license; it starts with the sand between his toes, growing up running the beaches of the coast in Topsail Island. From those early days on the North Carolina shore, Joe developed an instinctive understanding of the water that can only be earned through a lifetime at sea.

In 1999, Joe took that coastal upbringing to the U.S. Coast Guard, serving with distinction until 2007. In the Service, he mastered the high-stakes world of maritime safety, structural integrity, and vessel readiness. Upon transitioning to civilian life, Joe applied that military-grade discipline back to his home waters. For over 14 years, he owned and operated Chase-N-Fins Charters, navigating the challenging inlets from Topsail Island down to Wilmington, Carolina Beach, and Southport.

Running a successful multi-port charter business taught Joe a vital lesson: In the maritime world, "good enough" is a liability. A vessel is only as reliable as the maintenance behind it.

In 2023, Joe returned to the Lowcountry. Today, he resides in Wando with his wife, Cassie, and continues to share his passion for the water by operating a boutique charter out of Mount Pleasant.

Through decades of experience, Joe noticed a recurring problem in Charleston’s marinas: "Vessel Neglect." Busy professionals and absentee owners were losing their precious weekends to dead batteries, seized pumps, and salt corrosion. He realized that Charleston boat owners didn't just need a mechanic—they needed a Sentry.

Marsh & Mast Management (M&M) was born to bridge the gap between "owning a boat" and "enjoying a boat." As a USCG Veteran-owned company, we don't just "check" on your boat; we inspect it with the same precision required on a Coast Guard Cutter.
